Spring Intake Admission

Spring Intake Admission of Academic Year 2024/2025 is open to Local and International applicants onlyNote1.

 

In AY2024/25, THEi accepts applications from the Local and International applicants (excluding Mainland China, Macau SAR and Taiwan) for the Spring Intake admission to the following programmes in Year-1 and Year-3 Entry:

Please note that the Spring Intake Admission for Mainland China, Macau SAR and Taiwan applicant is NOT available in AY 2024/25.

2 Availability of a study place is on a first-come-first-served basis.  Offer acceptance and registration for a programme would not be available when the study places are filled.

The subsidy is only applicable to eligible local students and tenable for the normal duration of the programme.   For details, please refer to the below websites:

Application information and general entrance requirements of the above programmes are given below: 

 

General Entrance Requirements 

Year-1 Entry

 

  • Level 3 or above in the HKDSE English Language and Chinese Language; AND 

  • Level 2 or above in the HKDSE Mathematics and one Elective Subject; AND

  • An "Attained" in Citizenship and Social Development; OR Equivalent.  

 

For applicants holding with qualifications other than HKDSE, the applications will be assessed individually by the departments concerned.  You may refer to THEi’s website (Local Students Admission for Year 1) for details. 

 

Year-3 Entry

 

  • Higher Diploma OR equivalent qualifications in a relevant area of study.
  • Additional Core Modules are required for sub-degree graduates according to the educational background of individuals.
  • All applicants for Year-3 Entry are screened and selected by an Admission and Interview Panel.  All interviews are conducted in English / Putonghua. 

 

Application Procedure

The Spring Semester begins on 3 February 2025.  Interested applicants should complete the application procedure within the following application periods:

 

  • International Applicants: from 16 October 2024 to 31 October 2024
  • Local Applicants: from 16 October 2024 to 31 December 2024

 

Please download the Information Kit to obtain the application procedure and relevant important details, and submit the completed application form with the required supporting documents via email to thei-reg@thei.edu.hk (for Year-1 Entry) or thei-yr3-offer@thei.edu.hk (for Year-3 Entry) by the above stipulated deadlines.  Late and incomplete submissions may not be processed:

 

 

 

Application Fee

Applicants apply for degree programme(s) via Year-1 Entry are required to pay the application fee: 

 

  • Local Applicants: HK$180 
  • International Applicants: HK$200

 

Applicants will be separately notified of the payment method.  No application fee will be charged for applicants applying for degree programme(s) via Year-3.

Tuition Fees

  • Tuition fees are charged according to the number of credit points taken in a semester.
  • For details of the tuition fees, please refer to the programme websites as provided above.
  • Tuition fees are subject to annual review.  Additional Core Modules may be required prior to commencement or during Year-3 study.
  • Additional tuition fees will be charged according to the number of credit points taken, if any.

 

Scholarships & Awards

THEi has set up an "Entrance Scholarship Scheme"1 in recognition of the all-round performance of outstanding Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or the International Baccalaureate Diacploma Programme (IBDP) new Year 1 students who enroll in designated self-financing degree programmes. The scheme offers scholarships with award amount up to full scholarship covering four consecutive years of studies per award.

 

Meanwhile, one-off scholarships are offered to outstanding HD graduates who enrol in designated degree programmes as well.

 

Entrance Scholarship (for Year-1 Entry Students) (for AY2024/25 Spring Intake)

Full scholarship equivalent to the nominal tuition fee of four consecutive years of studies

New students3 admitted to designated THEi full-time degree programmes through Spring Intake in AY 2024/25 and have the following examination results:

 

  • Total points of 20 or above for the best 4 subjects5 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) obtained in the current sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or

 

  • Total points of 35 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the current sitting of the IBDP Examination

 

Condition for Scholarship Renewal6:

  • Awarded students must attain a Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above at the end of each academic year

New students3 admitted to Year 1 of the designated THEi self-financing full-time degree programmes4 through Spring Intake in AY 2024/25 and have the following examination results: 

 

  • Total points of 16 or above for the best 4 subjects5 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) or Level 2 or above in Liberal Studies obtained in the same sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or
  • Total points of 29 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the same sitting of the IBDP Examination

New students3 admitted to Year 1 of the designated THEi self-financing full-time degree programmes4 through Spring Intake in AY 2024/25 and have the following examination results: 

 

  • Total points of 14 or above for the best 4 subjects5 with an “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) or Level 2 or above in Liberal Studies obtained in the same sitting of the HKDSE Examination; or
  • Total points of 26 or above (including bonus points) obtained in the same sitting of the IBDP Examination

Notes:

  1. Eligible students will receive notifications from the Institute and may be required to provide relevant information or attend an interview. No application is required.

 

  1. The criteria of scholarship is subject to annual review. Other achievements such as music, sports, leadership, community services and other extra-curricular activities may be considered. Awardees have to fulfill other conditions as set by the Selection Committee, which include undertaking to study at the Institute for the entire academic year. THEi reserves the rights to adjust the selection criteria in each academic year. The decision of the Selection Committee and THEi on the scholarship schemes is final.

 

  1. Entrance scholarships are only applicable to new students who are admitted to THEi degree programmmes for the first time. Students will not be eligible for any entrance scholarship if they are readmitted to the same or another THEi programme for whatever reasons.

 

  1. In Spring Intake of Academic Year 2024/25, the designated degree programmes for Entrance Scholarship (Year-1 Entry in Self-financing programmes) include:
  • DS125108 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Multimedia Technology and Innovation

 

  1. The results of the three core subjects, namely Chinese Language (A010), English Language (A020) and Mathematics – Compulsory Part (A030) must have been included in the calculation of HKDSE score.  The fourth subject will be the best subject you have attained in the remaining HKDSE subject(s). The Extended Mathematics modules will not be taken into account for scholarship consideration.

 

  1. Awardees of Full Scholarship have to fulfill other renewal conditions as set by the Selection Committee, which include requiring the awardees to:
  • Undertake to study at the Institute for at least one academic year in each academic year; and
  • Remain in the same programme, rather than transfer or readmit to the same or another programme during the study period; and
  • Take a minimum study load of 30 credit points in each academic year (the credit points obtained by way of credit transfer/module exemption are excluded.

 

  1. Awardee of the Full Scholarship who meets the renewal condition is not eligible to receive the Scholarship for Excellent Performance of the same academic year.

 

Entrance Scholarship (for Year-3 Entry Students) (for AY2024/25 Spring Intake)

  • Minimum CGPA of 3.20 out of 4.00 required upon graduation from the VTC Higher Diploma (or equivalent local qualification)

HK$10,000

  • New students3 admitted to Year 3 of the four designated THEi self-financing full-time degree programmesthrough Spring Intake in AY 2024/25; and
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 required upon graduation from the VTC Higher Diploma (or equivalent local qualification)

  1. Eligible students will receive notifications from the Institute and may be required to provide relevant information or attend an interview. No application is required. 

 

  1.   • DS125108 Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Information and Communications Technology(Year-3 Entry)

 

  1. Verification of the academic results and/ or qualifications is required before the disbursement of the scholarship awards to the awardees.  Awardees will be notified of the arrangement in due course.

 

THEi has also set up the "Scholarship for Excellent Performance" for progressing students with value up to HK$40,000 in recognition of their excellent academic achievements in THEi.
