Professor TSANG Wai Kei Paul

Professor Paul TSANG assumed office as Vice President (Academic) of THEi on 1 July 2024, and has been primarily responsible for steering the academic direction of the Institute and articulating its overall strategic vision. Supporting the President, Prof TSANG executes his duties by leading academic development and collaboration, enhancing teaching and research excellence, overseeing consultancy projects, and strengthening local and international networks and partnerships with the community, academia, professional bodies, and industries.

 

As a dedicated educator with 20+ years of experience in programme management, curriculum development and policy formulation related to academic affairs and quality assurance, Prof TSANG has held several leadership positions, including Associate Vice President, Acting Dean and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Management and Hospitality, as well as the School of General Education and Languages since joining THEi in 2014.  He has also presided over various internal academic committees and boards, allowing him to gain a comprehensive understanding of the operations and workflows across all academic and non-academic units.

 

As an active researcher, Prof TSANG has an excellent track record of securing over HK$6 million external research grants in the capacity of Principal Investigator. One of his recent research accomplishments is serving as the Manager of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Food By-products Utilization (CIFU), a project exceeding over HK$5 million fully supported by the RGC’s Institutional Development Scheme Research Infrastructure Grant. On the whole, Prof TSANG’s dedication and leadership have been instrumental in driving the Institute’s academic advancements and applied research capabilities.
